Every gift counts. Every child counts. Due to the support of people like you, we are able to provide scholarships to students from around our region. The reality is that we are not state-funded, and we rely solely on tuition payments and donations from people like you in order to operate our school.
We have expanded our campus to include Boone Hall, which houses our Rhetoric (9th-12th) grades. Our goal is to provide Classical Christian education to as many children as possible. The current need for scholarship funds has far outweighed our ability to provide for that need.
We are growing in numbers, square footage, and drive to give as many children as possible the chance for a quality Christian education. We are so blessed that God has seen to it that we can continue to minister to children in our community and around the world. None of this could be accomplished without the generosity of people like you.
Your support helps us impact children who might not otherwise be exposed to Christ-centered teaching of the love of the arts, music, learning, and logic. We have spread the word to Germany, Japan, China, Denmark, and Thailand. ACA works alongside Youth For Understanding and host families in order to fulfill Christ's commandment to “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations” (Matt 28:19). Through an international/intercultural exchange, students from over 50 different countries can receive the gospel and become disciples of Christ.
The Annual Fund for ACA allows us to make choices rather than compromises. Every student benefits from the Annual Fund. When you support the Fund for ACA, you can help provide an accredited Classical Christian education to students who are awaiting scholarship funding. Your support can help with technology costs for our faculty so they can teach in person and virtually. Your support can help our Visual Arts & Music Departments purchase instruments and supplies. Your support is crucial to our efforts to help as many students as possible via scholarship funding and the expansion of our services. Help us achieve our mission and bring children closer to Christ whilst learning with a classical methodology. Thank you in advance for your contribution. Your donation will go toward providing children with an education rooted in Christ.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We already pay tuition, why do we need to donate money to the school?
The Annual Fund helps keep tuitions as low as possible. Like almost all independent schools, tuition does not cover the full cost of an ACA education. Funds raised through the Annual Fund bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the cost of running the school and provides the added resources in order to take our school from good to great.
What does the money from the Annual Fund go toward?
Your investment in the Annual Fund supports all areas of the school: academic programs, teacher salaries, technology, facilities, etc. It also allows us to respond to our budgetary priorities and any unforeseen needs, developments or opportunities that may arise.
What is the difference between the Annual Fund and fundraiser (selling items, events) giving?
The Annual Fund goes immediately into the school’s operating budget to support the ongoing operations of the school. Fundraiser revenue is allocated towards specific initiatives and projects. In past years, fundraiser revenues have gone towards the purchasing of computers for classroom use, new playground equipment, and other such initiatives.
Who is asked for gifts?
Everyone in the ACA community parents, grandparents, alumni, parish, faculty and staff, and friends of the school.
How much should I give?
What you give is entirely up to you, but we hope that Appomattox Christian Academy will be a philanthropic priority for every ACA family and ask that you make a gift that is meaningful to your family. No gift is too small and every gift is important and appreciated. Last year, the average gift size was $1,000, with gifts ranging from $15 to $8,000.
How will my Annual Fund gift be acknowledged?
Your gift will be acknowledged in the Annual Report, which is distributed each fall and lists all donors to the school. If you prefer, you can make your gift anonymously by directing the Office to not list your name. If your gift is matched by your employer, the matched amount will be counted towards your total giving and acknowledged as such in the Annual Report.
What is a matching gift?
Many companies will match charitable contributions by their employees. The company helps to support worthy causes and the employee can maximize the amount donated to the charity. Many ACA parents work for matching gift companies—please check with your human resources department or your employer to see if they will match your gift. If your gift is matched by your employer, the matched amount will be counted towards your total giving and acknowledged as such in the Annual Report.
Why not simply raise the tuition and eliminate the Annual Fund?
Like most other independent schools, ACA relies on Annual Fund income to bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the expenses associated with operating the School.
I can make only one gift to ACA. Should I give to the Annual Fund or other school fundraising initiatives?
Although we hope that everyone will participate in other fundraising initiatives, if you have one gift to make, it should be to the Annual Fund. The need to bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a student’s education is an ongoing yearly challenge; moreover, the philanthropic dollars donated to the Annual Fund also help ACA continue to enrich and expand our offerings, allowing us to go from good to great.
What impact will my small gift have?
Every gift, regardless of size, is important and appreciated and brings us closer to reaching our fundraising goal. Gifts of any size inspire more people to give; they are a vote of confidence in our school and our community.
